well, it isn’t. you WERE right. I was just giving you the gears. Cast iron is just a great alternative to the non stick crap. IMO, if you want to “indoor grill” just get a cast iron grill pan. They are pretty nice, but nothing replaces charcoal. but at the same time, charcoal isn’t practical for just a hotdog or two. another thing you can do is add some liquid smoke to the bottm of a grill pan to give some addtional smokey flavor. i do steak in cast ron pan to oven, awesome. better than gas bbq.

As someone mentioned though, there’s no way it can be any different that just using a grill-pan.

I’d love to get one, IF it’s really going to be similar to grilling on a charcoal grill. I just don’t know.

I actually have one of these. The cast iron conducts heat better than most cookware. So the heating elements below heat the cast iron grill and the foods cook on the raised ridges which allows the fat to drip down and also enables you to sear grill marks on your food.

    How is this …
How is this different than just frying it on a pan? No charcoal = no fire = no smoke = no point in grilling!

    Sorry, but I’m …
Sorry, but I’m failing to understand why anyone would spend $80 on this when you can buy a Lodge pro logic cast iron grill pan for $25 and get the same, if not better results. But I will say, if I was going to buy an electric grill, this would be the one I’d buy. Cast iron. nothing better.
